This Australian band has got the balance of musical elements just right.

Post Hardcore, in case you hadn't noticed, has undergone a slow and steady transformation of late. Bands like Hands Like Houses have added a large dose of Pop melody to their sound in an attempt to broaden their mainstream appeal. It's a similar case with 'Blind Love', the follow-up to Awaken I Am's 2015's debut 'Shields & Crowns', where the band has retained its sound but added a commercial element.

It's something perhaps exemplified most by the Pop-orientated hooks of 'Hindsight', the instantly hummable chorus of opener 'Walk My Way' or the chugging commercial Rock of 'Black Dreams'. Adam Roger Douglas' high register vocals may put some people off, but there's no denying that this is a noteworthy modern Melodic Rock album characterised by the use of subtle electronics and easy-on-the-ear guitar.

One listen to the superb 'Wolves' or 'Naive' give sufficient proof that this Australian band has got the balance of musical elements just right.
