Huge sing-along choruses, some nice melodic playing and intelligent song construction all making for pleasant listening, considering the lyrical content of the album.

Lordi have passed me by for many years and having listened to the fantastically named (sic) 'Sexorcism' I understand why. I wasn't offended but the whole package just doesn't do much for me. The whole album from start to finish is written to supposedly shock the listener with lyrics about horror, sex, blood, guts, more sex and horror... again.
The thing about 'Sexorcism' is that I can't work out if its tongue-in-cheek or not, song titles like 'Naked In My Cellar', Slashion Model Girls' and the hilariously titled 'Rimskin Assassin' do nothing to suggest anything but this being a bloody good romp into Comedy Metal.

The actual songs are rather good, at times, with huge sing-along choruses, some nice melodic playing and intelligent song construction all making for pleasant listening, considering the lyrical content of the album.

Having listened to the album, digested it and listened to some of their twelve album back catalogue, I'd say this is on a par with many of their other albums, probably better at times. The singer has a filthy voice along the lines of Udo Dirkschneider at times and the band have a feel of very early Accept in some songs, but without the nuances that made Accept so great.

If you enjoy the Horror Metal scene, the garish costumes and you have a sense of humour that allows you to look beyond those to let you just enjoy decent music, then this album will probably float your boat (on a lake of blood).

As I said, I'm not a fan but I am glad I now have some Lordi in my collection and I'd recommend 'Sexorcism' just for the song titles, after all, who couldn't enjoy the joyful ditty 'Sodomesticated Animals'?
