There is something heart-warming, knowing Girlschool are still Rocking the live circuit and producing new music this good.

Girlschool have been around since 1978 and were once dubbed "Motörhead's Little Sisters". The current line-up still consists of original members Kim McAuliffe (guitar/vocals), Denise Dufort (drums) and Enid Williams (bass guitar/vocals) alongside long standing member Jackie Chambers (guitar) who has been with the band since 2000.

This release sees Girlschool using legendary producer Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Y&T) and he has he managed to keep the band's signature sound whilst still adding a fresh new edge to the music which was lacking on some of the bands late eighties output.
'Come The Revolution' grooves in all the right places and has a mighty stadium chorus that will have fists punching the air. Girlschool have never hidden their Glam Rock roots, and this is a great example of how easily they incorporate that into their style.

Dufort's double bass drum kicks have lost none of their dynamic delivery, she is still the driving force behind the likes of 'Take It Like A Band' and 'Night Before'; both songs owing much to Motörhead and the beer, sweat and denim brigade! The L.A. swagger of title track 'Guilty As Sin' could easily be early W.A.S.P. given it is drenched in the spirit of Rock 'n' Roll – it's stupidly addictive.



'Perfect Storm' is a little dreary and the cheesy clap along of 'Everybody Loves (Saturday Night)' sounds like Def Leppard at their worst. Covering the Bee Gees' 'Stayin' Alive' could have gone the wrong way, but thankfully the girls put some dinosaur size balls on the track where the guitars are a mass of sordid riffs while the vocals are delivered with just enough eloquence and attitude to pull it off. 'Treasure' has a subdued approach, which blossoms with each play whereas 'Painful' could almost be a Placebo song, and is by far the most adventurous and commercial offering on here.

There is something heart-warming, knowing Girlschool are still Rocking the live circuit and producing new music this good.
