If you like your Metal dished up with the power tag attached, this is an album for you.

(Michael) Vescera is probably best known to us for his time in various bands and projects like Loudness, Obsession, Yngwie Malmsteen or his own band MVP (Mike Vescera Project) and for being fairly busy as a producer for a number of years. 'Beyond The Fight' brings him back into the vocal role for a powerful, yet melodic Metal album. Musicians Mike Petrone (guitars), Frank Leone (bass) and Fabio Alessandrini (drums) are the core team Vescera has behind him.

The opener 'Blackout In Paradise' is a clear indicator of what to expect from this release; in-your-face, hard-driving crunching riffs and soaring vocals, reminiscent of early Rob Halford. The pace of this track only changes for the chorus then it's back to all guns blazing. 'In The Night', the second track, has this air about it and sounds very much like early Queensr├┐che, likewise 'Stand And Fight'.

In fact, it's not until you get to track eight, 'Never Letting Go', does the album show any signs of slowing down, and even then it's only for a short period. 'Beyond The Fight' is a really good album but with the constant power it contains, it's a hard album to listen to in one go. There's a total of nine tracks on the album and not a duff one in sight. Mind you, to keep up with some of the guitar work you'd need to be a damn good air guitar player!

The production and mix are crisp and very well balanced, while the technical ability of those involved can't be denied. There's some awesome playing, and singing, on this release and if you like your Metal dished up with the power tag attached, this is an album for you. It's good to see Michael Vescera back in the singing chair.
