A refreshing mixture of alternative, metal, punk and rock definitely filling a gap in the market.

Through Ghoulish Records, ‘Times Of Conflict’ is the debut release from English rockers Codejak. If you are partial to a grungy yet melodic sound sporting influences from punk and alternative genres of rock, ‘Times of conflict’ is most definitely a “must listen”.

Codejak have an eminent ability to provide a balanced mixture of metal, thrash, melodic songs with strong harmonies making this band appealing to a broad audience. With a history of extensive touring accumulated since 2009 throughout both the UK and Europe, Codejak have shared stages with artists such as Sham 69 and Chris Jericho’s Fozzy, projecting their music to extensive audiences.

Eleven tracks comprise this tight, tough and totally tantalizing full-length album by the band. The vocal ability from front man Dan is second to none and ‘The Ballad Of Jenny G’ sets the tone for the album; a fist pumping metal grinding escapade of alternative rock blended with a melodic undercurrent. Although very different, Codejak share similarities with Finnish rockers H.I.M in their ability to take the listener to a dark yet soulful place and then bring them back with a head-banging symphony. The album also encompasses subtle undertones of Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine, embracing a much more flexible musical capability and producing softer and melodious tracks such as ‘Sell My Soul’ and ‘Little Boy’. ‘Times Of Conflict’ is carefully blended with a fusion of tracks incorporating heavy shredding such as ‘Pull Out Your Knife’ and more measured tuneful tracks such as ‘Start Again’. Taking note of Codejak’s musical ability it is pleasant to imagine that the band could perform some brilliant acoustic versions of these songs enabling an audience to connect with the band on a range of different levels.

Overall Codejak present a refreshing mixture of alternative, metal, punk and rock definitely filling a gap in the market. They are a band that cannot be limited to a particular genre and this is, in my view, the basis of their appeal. The album is a superb launch pad in which Codejak showcase their varied musical ability.
