This duo have unleashed new life into a selection of songs that many people will not have heard in years.

Steevi Jaimz, known to most Rock fans as the outrageous front-man of eighties Glam Metal band Tigertailz, has recently teamed up with guitarist Phil Vokins (of fellow eighties Glamsters Wrathchild) to record 'Time Machine', an eclectic collection of cover versions which played a part of their formative development in music. This is where the fun starts; no Queen, The Rolling Stones or The Beatles, just a selection of songs which may surprise quite a few people.

First up is 'Babylon's Burning', the Punk classic by The Ruts recreating the anger of the original, if anything, the aggressive vocal takes this classic up a notch. From Punk to Glam with a cover of Slade's 'Look At Last Nite' and Jaimz's voice adapts perfectly with plenty of sing-along moments. It's then time for Vokins to shine and what a way to do it, for anyone to take on Rory Gallagher's 'Philby' is a challenge in itself, but this stunning performance is a good as the original... if not better. Next up is Gordon Lightfoot's beautiful 'If You Could Read My Mind' which showcases the great range of Jaimz's voice.

'God In Louisiana' – from Steve Jones' 'Fire And Gasoline' – is probably the album's best track; it's far better than the original and that was great. Also featured are covers of Tom Petty and David Essex as well as another song that I still can't get out of my head, Cher's 'Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves' which features a fabulous guest performance from Cherie Currie (The Runaways). The duo bounce off each other and the infectious chorus and keyboards will be your earworm for weeks. One curious choice is Magazine's 'Shot By Both Sides', an obscure Punk song from 1978 but it works so well within the concept of the album. The closing bonus track is an original Jaimz song brought back from 1985 which was the catalyst for the duo to get together and the resulting album found here.

Cover albums are seen as a cop out by many people, but when they are done right with a great selection of songs and not just lazy picks of classics, you get a result like this. This duo have unleashed new life into a selection of songs that many people will not have heard in years. If you're doing a covers album, this is how you do it. Buy it before it sells out, you won't regret it.
