Overall not a bad first effort.

The unusually named Hell In The Club were formed by members of two of Italy's premier Metal bands as an outlet to play a different kind of music from the day job. Secret Sphere bassist Andrea Buratto came up with the idea for HITC and set about finding the right people for the project. First to join was guitarist Andrea Piccardi, who has been performing in Iron Maiden and Toto tribute bands Wrathchild and Seventhone. They say never split up a rhythm section, so Andrea next enlisted his Secret Sphere drumming colleague Federico Pennazzato. Finding the right vocalist was a more difficult task, but when Secret Sphere performed a concert with Elvenking, Andrea realised that Davide 'Dave' Moras was the perfect choice. Line-up complete, the band entered the studio, and 'Let The Games Begin' is the result.

If you want an outlet from playing Heavy Metal then there's nothing better than good old Rock'n'Roll, and that's exactly what you get here. This is an album full of pumping Hard Rock anthems, with the occasional foray into Sleaze Rock territory, and complete with plenty of melodic choruses – Party Rock if you will. Think of a blend of the 80s style of Kiss, Motley Crue, Skid Row, L.A. Guns and Ratt, and brought bang up to date with a modern production, resulting in a sound not too far from the likes of Hinder. The sing-along choruses of 'Since You're Not Here' and first single 'On The Road' have the feel of White Lion, the riff of 'Raise Your Drinkin' Glass' brings to mind Cinderella, and the pounding 'Rock Down This Place' and 'Natural Born Rockers' reminds me just a little of Jackyl. There's one obligatory ballad in the decent 'Star' with it's subtle string arrangement, and there's even a spirited run- through of the Sam Cooke classic 'Another Saturday Night.' The band perform well, particularly Andrea Piccardi who delivers some fine solos, and Davide Moras's voice suits this kind of music perfectly. If I have one small complaint it's that the over use of expletives on certain songs becomes a little tiresome after a while, but at least it'll keep the kids interested. Overall not a bad first effort.
