The British Rock scene is looking very healthy indeed so whoever said Rock was dead, you've got nowhere to run now.

Frontiers Music has become synonymous with high-quality Melodic Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Progressive and Metal music, and with their 'New Breed' project they have a stable of up and coming, young and exciting bands who they believe are the future of Hard Rock and Metal. The Brink can now be added to the ever-growing roster of new British groups (which includes Inglorious, Wayward Sons, Doomsday Outlaw and Bigfoot) and with it their debut release 'Nowhere To Run'.

Hailing from Wisbech and Cambridge, the quintet of vocalist Tom Quick, guitarists Lexi Laine and Izzy Trixx, bassist Gaz Connor and drummer Davide Drake Bocci bring together their collective influences to form hard rocking riffs, vocal harmonies and sing-along choruses befitting early Def Leppard and Bon Jovi, but it's also all bang up to date as well.

Rock 'n' Roll beauty queen 'Little Janie' is the album opener and this track sets the band's stall out straight away, it's catchy and it rocks, as does the next song and single 'Break These Chains' which features some nice talk box guitar throughout. You will need your lighters at the ready for the two ballads, 'Wish' and 'Save Goodbye', where both cuts benefit from some orchestral backing and also act as a showcase for Quick's vocals; 'Save Goodbye' is also featured as a bonus track in acoustic form and it's every bit as good. 'One Night Only' is the highlight of the release for me, it's fist-pumping, headbanging Rock (especially when it shifts into overdrive midway through) and I can imagine it being a real crowd pleaser in their live set.

The Brink have delivered a great debut album; they've got the songs, it's expertly produced by non-other than Nick Tauber (Thin Lizzy, UFO, Marillion) and they've got the backing of a fantastic label. The British Rock scene is looking very healthy indeed so whoever said Rock was dead, you've got nowhere to run now!
