We have had Thunder collections before, but any time spent in the company of this ever-improving band are never moments regretted.

"Here you go, all the Harry Potter films in a shiny bag", "well, I've already got them", "but not altogether in a shiny bag", "hang on, there's one missing"... "Next!"

This is often the issue with "Best Of"/"Greatest Hits" collections, we've already got most of what is on there, so usually need a good, extra reason to buy them again, and there's also regularly a favourite or two omitted – mine on this occasion is 'Fly On The Wall'. Thunder deserve a retrospective, they have been delighting Rock audiences for decades in their beautifully accessible, quintessentially English way. Of course, the title is quite ironic due to the fact that before the recent growth of Rock radio, they weren't really featured and thus no (or very few at best) actual fully-fledged hits are included – a situation they detailed in 'On The Radio'.

Which is your favourite song? Is it the massive 'River Of Pain', the sing-along that is 'Stand Up', the dumb fun of 'I Love You More Than Rock 'N' Roll' or the instant chorus and live favourite 'Love Walked In'? All of them are on offer via this compilation and all of them are brilliant.

You might need an extra tickle to take this on? There are tracks done differently, but these are similar to the re-imagining of the softer, brilliant 'Please Remain Seated' album; 'Low Life In High Places' contains the fan choir that was so good on the tour for that last release and there's a rather tentative, previously unreleased version of Led Zeppelin's 'Your Time Is Gonna Come'.

I don't really wish to sound curmudgeonly; we have indeed had Thunder collections before, but any time spent in the company of this ever-improving band are never moments regretted. More people should hear this group, and if this album caught fire, sold multi-millions and made the band stars... what would they do then? Probably split up again...
