Unlocked Box Issue 1- Stargate Universe

After the conclusion of the magnificent Battlestar Galactica remake, ardent sci-fi fans were concerned that there would be a void for a space drama which would not be filled for quite some time. Well, we need not have been overly bothered because STARGATE UNIVERSE hit UK screens in the autumn. Sure, Stargate has become a franchise the way Star Trek has been for decades and both TV shows (and their spin-offs) have their fair share of obsessive fans but that has rarely gotten in the way of good writing.

However, this latest attachment to the Stargate world has yet to amaze me in any kind of way. Some episodes plod along and I’m also unsure about the casting of Robert Carlyle as Nicholas Rush, the crazy scientist onboard Destiny. Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed it so far but by episode 10 I was hoping for something a bit stronger, faster and edgier. There’s still time...
