A Rocktopia user review written by Speedy Hicks.

After being witness to this show back in October 08 and remembering just what a great gig it was, obviously
it was a no brainer to purchase this double disc as a permanent reminder of all things “Jess Harnell”. The clever
thing about this DVD / CD is you cant really go wrong as for starters you have the whole live show on CD to
put in the car along with 5 bonus tracks of studio rarities. As for the DVD side of the package this caters for
the average fan who like myself wants to watch the live show as it was on the day, and wow what a show, a
special event that will be remembered for many years, all the hits are on here including the impressive opener
“Make It Loud” and fans favourite “Disc-connected” all recorded and edited to a surprisingly high standard.
This show became famous for the most jaw dropping and refreshing thing I had witness for many years and the
reaction from the crowd was a sight that lives on, the track in question “Don’t Stop the Sandman” starts of
with the “Sandman” riff from Metallica and then blends into “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey then back and
forth between the two songs. I am sure vocalist “Jess Harnell” had no idea what was going on through the bands
eleven song offering, he was like the ringmaster at the circus just getting everyone’s attention with his impressive
vocals as well as cracking jokes, doing impressions, the man on the day was a star.
Ok that’s the average fan catered for, now it’s the turn of the hardcore fan, very generously the group have opened
the “Loud and Clear” vaults and have added not one but two additional gigs recorded way back in 1990 both
from California. This I hasten to add is for die hards only as the picture quality is somewhat lacking but who cares
as you don’t have to watch it if you don’t want to as the Firefest Show and live CD is value for money in itself.
All this comes in a lovely digi pack DVD version as well as a unique number that you tap into a web site and hey
presto you get more bonus tracks and wallpapers etc etc……... Enjoy!!
