Another winner from a great metal band.

Bloodbound:- An oath taken in the dark ages by warriors, where the palms of the hand were cut open and men shook hands to mix their spirits and blood to form a lifelong bond and which some also believed carried on even after death.

Bloodbound then is a strong name for any band and this strength certainly shows up in their music. So I have to tell you right from the off that I’m a sucker for the type of melodic power metal this band play. It is the kind of metal that has its tongue firmly planted in its cheek and never ever takes itself too seriously. Yet it is also easily some of the best and most potent metal music that you can find being played today. Bloodbound therefore are a band who know just how to write, record and play infectious multi-layered melodic power metal songs that will always leave you wanting more and with ‘ITNOM’ they have once again raised the bar, as to what you can do within this genre of music. Ok, so this isn’t the most original album you’ll ever hear and yeah there are others that are ploughing the same furrow; but few get close to the sheer joy that Bloodbound give you as you play and enjoy their music.

Just lend your ears and metal hearts to songs as ballsy as ‘Son Of Babylon’ and its cracking hookline, ‘When Demons Collide’ with it’s chant-a-long vocal harmonies and killer guitar solos or the Primal Fear like ‘I’m Evil’ and its over the top riffing and then tell me you’re not loving what Bloodbound do. And when a band can then throw in such other metal gems as ‘King Of Fallen Grace’, ‘Bounded By Blood’, ‘In The Name Of Metal’ and ‘Metalheads Unite’ then you soon find yourself reaching for that old air guitar once again and absolutely loving this music, the kind that transports you back to the days when you had long hair (or in my case hair) and metal ruled the world.

Bloodbound (Patrik Johansson vocals, Tomas Olsen guitar, Frederik Bergh keyboards, Pelle Akerlind drums and Henrik Olsen guitar), have once again put together an album of crushing metal songs that any one who also loves a bit of melody with their metal should really love. Another winner from a great ‘METAL’ band. (This must be a record for the use of the word “metal” in a review!)
