Meaningless Indie twaddle.

This is pop rock according to their record company. So we might feel our resolve harden at the mention. But we're an eclectic bunch, Fireworks readers, the types to give a fair hearing. But then this Bracknell bunch start with that aching falsetto vocalising a la Wild Beasts and mix it up with a fast pop punk pain. This makes it a lot harder to like. The addition of aimless, noisy, modern chart Metal choruses might just decide things for you.

Russ Merry's voice is just the kind of aching, thin, new born foal type thing that mags like the "NME" and "Flex" like. Unfortunately. Around this, his riffs alternate between glacial faux New Wave chiming and all-encompassing rock chords. Unfortunately. At least Chris Penfold’s bass takes control occasionally and drives the tracks. But to the same arid chartscape we've seen so many times before.

‘White Flags’ at least has the sense to push straight to that sparse, Indie space, cold and considered with a faux pain running through every groove, but heating up for occasional blasts of tightly controlled noise. But when this is repeated but less successfully on the following ‘The Boy Who Lived’, we know we're in trouble. Only ‘6th November’ is effective. In fact, it's beautiful, with a gentle acoustic plangency which slides in next to you to you like a friend, you understand entirely what is being said and empathise truly; mark of a good song. Unfortunately, it's surrounded by claptrap like the title track which jangles like a bad Smiths cover band and throws out a massive riff in the expectation that the charts will open up.

Some tracks here may have promise, but really this is just meaningless Indie twaddle, specifically designed to be cold for the scenesters and bang away for the teenage rockers. We see what you do.

Streetfight Silence, eh? More like sound and fury signifying nothing.
