A Rocktopia user review written by Speedy Hicks.

Twenty one years after their debut album we are now spoilt rotten with a career spanning best of with the addition of 2 new songs making their first appearance on this enjoyable release. Originating from New York “Mark Mangold” and his trusty musical partner Al Fritsch set about recording half a dozen albums before calling it a day in the 90s, thankfully a triumphant show at Firefest UK in 2009 has hopefully spurred the group on for a permanent return with this album leading the way. Songs included on this compilation vary from the riff heavy and personal favourite “Drivin Wheel” which has lost none of its zap since its original release in 1991. “Love Has No Pride” the song that really started it all for the group along with “Hard Way Home” both are rightfully included, as are the 2 singles from the “Drivin Wheel” album “If This is Love” and “Think of Love” all tracks I believe were personally chosen by Mark and Al which adds a nice touch to the end product. Both the Cher and Michael Bolton hits are included “I found Someone” and “Fools Game” respectively. Special mention for the 2 new songs “Try 2 Let Go” which was written on the evening of the Firefest show mentioned earlier. “Dreams Will Come” is the other newie and both show a slightly heavier side to the group, which is great as if I was to have a minor almost petty whinge it would be the lack of some of the groups crunchier tracks. With the group embarking on a summer tour this year lets hope they pop back to these shores and play some of the tracks on offer on this 17 song best of.

SPEEDY HiCKS.
