A band that just oozes metal excitement and deserves to be heard.

Sweden’s Enforcer has just signed a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast and aim to put themselves on the speed metal map. The album deals with the most horrific ways to die, so in a twisted kind of way it’s a concept album!

Opening track ‘Belles of Hades’ is a haunting piano piece that leads into ‘Death Rides The Night’. The song is a hybrid of early Tank and Metallica and its clear Enforcer have a point to prove but not at the cost of a damn sturdy melody. The song cuts thorough air like a missile and the strong sense of excitement infests itself in the deliverance of the music. The NWOBHM is clearly a huge influence on this band and guitarist and vocalist Olof Wikstrand possesses a great voice that fits that genre. ‘Run For Your Life’ takes the blueprint from the first Iron Maiden album and pumps it full of even more great riff work, while ‘Take Me Out Of This Nightmare’ delivers a dazzling rhythm of pulsating guitar work and a superb chorus without sacrificing the song’s metal credentials.

If you took Iron Maiden’s ‘Genghis Khan’ and Anvil’s’ March Of The Crabs’ then you get ‘Crystal Suite’, an instrumental that plays homage to the early days of heavy metal in every way. Mercyful Fate was the band that came to mind when listening to ‘Sacrificed’ and ‘Silent Hour/The Conjugation’; the siren vocals and sinister riffs are all in place, and the songs are potent and compelling. The original title of ‘Satan’ has Enforcer taking us back to the glory days of speed metal giants Anvil, no complex lyrics here folks just an immense barrage of guitars!

Listening to so much of this release takes me back to the feeling I had when I discovered bands like Anvil, Hellion or Witchfynde. Clearly Enforcer is a band that just oozes metal excitement and deserves to be heard.
