An accurate representation of Greg Lake's marvellous career.

Legendary progressive rock guitarist and singer Greg Lake has been a focal point for prog rock enthusiasts for a long time being a founding member of prog titans King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. With 'Songs Of A Lifetime', he offers a 20 track live album of songs that have been pivotal to him on a personal level throughout his lengthy career.

He came up with the idea during the writing of his autobiography when the selected songs would somehow make themselves apparent. Even though some of the numbers weren't written by Lake, they mean just as much to him as his own compositions. The album was recorded in 2012 during the experimental solo road jaunt of the same name where he used backing tracks rather than an actual band. The album opens with the King Crimson song '21st Century Schizoid Man' from their debut 'In The Court Of The Crimson King' and follows it with a terrific take on 'Lend Your Love To Me Tonight' by ELP. Some of the songs that are not associated with Lake include 'Heartbreak Hotel' and The Beatles 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away'.

There are various interludes between songs breaking the concert down into chapters, which gives the performance a personal feel that rock concerts can sometimes lack. He tells stories of his life recalling personal memories and anecdotes, and is nothing but entertaining. He is a truly accomplished musician with a good, honest voice and 'Songs Of A Lifetime' offers a very varied yet entertaining experience.

Overall, it is an accurate representation of Greg Lake's marvellous career.
