The Human Rights Concerts 1986-1998 6DVD set due October 2013

Human rights concerts

Eagle Rock Entertainment are delighted to announce the release on 28 October 2013 of “¡RELEASED!” on 6DVD set, 4 individual CD releases each featuring one of the events and Digital Audio formats. Following on from the “Get Up! Stand Up!” highlights release earlier this year, the DVD format release consists of 6 discs containing 16½ hours of content packaged in a multi-panel digipack. 12½ hours of the material is being released on video for the very first time. The CD releases feature each of the four concerts simultaneously released as individual sets. See over for full tracklisting.

As a series of benefit concerts staged between 1986 and 1998 to raise awareness and funds for the Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights organisation Amnesty International, “¡RELEASED!” features an incredible line-up of artists including Bryan Adams, Joan Armatrading, Ruben Blades, Jackson Browne, Tracy Chapman, Miles Davis, Peter Gabriel, Bob Geldof, Fela Kuti, Wynton Marsalis, Alanis Morissette, Youssou N’Dour, Sinéad O’Connor, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, The Police, Radiohead, Lou Reed, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, The E Street Band, Sting, Third World, U2 & Steven Van Zandt. Additionally, the DVD format release offers extra contextual companion material consisting of 32 segments – including brand new interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel & Bono, a 40 minute documentary, rare archive footage and 13 special music performances given by major stars for Amnesty in the last ten years.

RELEASED!” presents The Human Rights Concerts consisted of four events over the period. The first of these was “A Conspiracy Of Hope”, Amnesty’s 25th anniversary US concert tour in 1986. This was followed by “Human Rights Now!”, the historic 5-continent 20-concert world tour undertaken in 1988. The series continued with stand-alone concerts “An Embrace Of Hope” in Chile in 1990 and “The Struggle Continues…” in Paris in 1998. The list of musicians who contributed their services is extraordinary and includes some of the world’s foremost artists - drawn from several nations and representing a wide range of musical styles.

The primary factor uniting all the artists featuring across these releases was their desire to donate their time and talents to place a spotlight on Amnesty’s vital work campaigning for people whose human rights are abused. Building on the achievements of Amnesty’s legendary “Secret Policeman’s Ball” benefit shows, albums and movies - these concerts brought awareness of the cause to an ever-wider public. These new releases are designed to continue that mission and raise further funds for Amnesty’s crucial work.
