The future's bright – the future Screams!

Even after all these years of listening to music, there's an indescribable chill of excitement when you first hear a debut album by a band that immediately show the potential to be something special. 'From The Flames' by Northern Ireland's Screaming Eagles is one such album, grabbing you from the very second the crunching AC/DC meets Little Caesar riff of 'All The Way' has you bumping and grinding uncontrollably. Just as you are regaining control of your bodily functions, a pounding beat, throbbing bass-line and some of the classiest blues infused vocals I've heard in some time, have you writhing on the floor once more. 'Down The River' repeats the dose, bursts of cymbals exploding as the guitars beat you into submission, before, only three tracks in, the low down boogie of 'Hungry For More' seals the deal.

Vocally Chris Fry is nothing short of mighty, hitting the soaring heights somewhere between Tyketto's Danny Vaughn, The Union's Pete Shoulder and the king of them all, Bon Scott. Comparing a young vocalist to anyone of that trio is praise indeed, so all three? You get the idea how good this lad is. However Adrian McAleenan matches him with every smash of good-time guitar goodness, while the pair of Ryan Lilly (bass) and Kyle Cruikshank (drums) lay down the rhythms thick and fast. 'Fight The Fire' adds a touch of melody over crunch, 'Vampire' kicks in all dirty Delta Blues before positively bursting out of the speakers with groovin' goodness, while 'Devil In The Dust' heads to brutish biker rock.

Want a foot stomping sing-along? Try the howl of 'Rock 'N' Roll Soul'. Looking for a mean, lean fist pumper? Here's 'One More Revolution'. Like music with a knowing nod of well earned confidence? Then strut your stuff to 'Blood'. Leaving 'Take My Time' to close out this cracking debut effort in the riff heavy, vocal howling, solo searing style in which 'From The Flames' began.

There's no denying that AC/DC are a strong influence here, but add to that a stomp of Thunder, the smoothness of primetime Bad Company and the sleaziness of L.A. Guns. However a sound so damn irresistibly clear, yet grimy enough to have you picking the dirt from under your nails allows 'From The Flames' to become an album clever enough, yet believable enough to capture the imagination of Classic Rockers and those more taken by the likes of Black Stone Cherry or Shinedown. Not easy tricks to pull off in anyone's book and especially not to the incredibly high standard Screaming Eagles have.

The future's bright – the future Screams!
