One of the more uninteresting albums I've come across so far this year.

And now for something completely different... The Tuesday Club are a UK eight piece band who want to inject some fun back into our lives, describing themselves as 'Glamour with a capital G'. Please be still, my beating heart. I was expecting something maybe along the lines of the fabulously entertaining Gene The Werewolf, but what The Tuesday Club deliver is not so much a Tremendous Tuesday as a wet weekend in Weston-super-Mare (and I should know, I live there).

'See You Next Tuesday' is cabaret meets The Ramones and Roxy Music by way of Rocky Horror, and this sounds, initially, like a marvellous idea. I mean, I like all those things so it should be great. The thing is, I like Marmite, Bacon and Wotsits, but in the same sandwich they are shit. There are a few nice, cheeky upbeat tracks on offer, such as the over-lauded 'Dolly Dynamite', or the self explanatory Ramones-alike 'Nanananana'. Vocalist Andreas Vanderbraindrain (give me strength...) is okay and you imagine this is what Russell Brand sounds like at a drunk karaoke party. The rest of them have similarly stupid names, but if the idea of a drummer called Tittybar Telski sets your boat afloat then go for it. Be warned, though, one listen of 'New Glamour' and you will be amazed at just how long four and a half minutes can seem.

As an album, it's not at all tight, with too many songs (14) combined with a very shallow production that helps none of them. How it took eight people to make it is beyond me, as it's one of the more uninteresting albums I've come across so far this year. I get the feeling that it's a cool thing to fawn over them from some of the quotes that have been rolled out, but the only place I'd contemplate listening to them again was if they played a pub for free. A pub in walking distance. With a pretty barmaid. And free beer (with free earplugs).
