Ready to go the distance, weighing in with an album full of hooks.

It’s been nine years since Adriangale released their last album ‘Crunch’, which saw the band change their name to mirror that release due to issues with their record label, but following their appearance at Firefest in 2007 they went on hiatus.  A deal was reached with Kivel records late last year to resurrect the band, and ‘Sucker Punch!’ is the long-awaited new album.

Re-uniting the core of vocalist Jamie Rowe and guitarist Vic Rivera, along with bassist Matt Mahoney and returning guitarist Eddie Campbell, with Rivera also once again assuming his place on the drumstool, ‘Sucker Punch!’ picks up exactly where the ‘Crunch’ album left off, as if it was only yesterday instead of 2004.  The tougher guitar sound of the previous album has been preserved, continuing their contemporary take on Melodic Hard Rock, and the Def Leppard meets Harem Scarem harmonies are still in evidence, accentuating the wonderful melodies that just ooze from every pore, plus amazing crystal clear and powerful production the icing on the cake.  Rivera and Campbell trade guitar solos throughout the album, with ‘Temporis Intermisso’ demonstrating just how to keep an instrumental interlude interesting for well over three minutes.

Elsewhere, the opening ‘Sucker Punch’ is an intoxicating Def Leppard-style anthem, ‘The Black And Blue’, ‘Believe’, ‘The World We Knew’ and ‘Could Have Been Me’ swing more towards classic Melodic Rock, ‘When I Said You’d Be The One’ has a bouncy Pop/Rock feel, the lyrically scathing ‘All About The Money’ is a fiery riff-heavy up-tempo rocker with clever shouted backing vocals, ‘Give Me A Sign’ and ‘What Will You Do’ have a darker, more modern approach while still retaining the melodious choruses, while the neatly arranged ballad ‘You’ that closes the album sees Rivera at the piano and Jamie Rowe’s passionate delivery in a smoother style than the rest of the material.

Adriangale were seemingly out for the count, but are back in the ring for another round in spectacular style, pulling no punches and seemingly ready to go the distance, weighing in with an album full of hooks that hit you from all sides like jabs and upper cuts. Knockout!
