Uncompromising, razor sharp Power Metal from a band that never fails to deliver.

A seriously underrated act who (in my humble opinion at any rate) have been on top of their game for the best part of thirty-five years now, Vicious Rumors are the first and last word in quality U.S. Melodic Power Metal.

Contemporaries of the Bay Area Thrash explosion that sent seismic shockwaves around the globe in the early 1980s, whilst VR certainly know how to crank up those riffs theirs is a much more traditional sounding brand of Metal influenced by giants such as Judas Priest, Savatage (pre 'Gutter Ballet' of course) and Accept. Guitarist and main song-writer Geoff Thorpe has been the only constant in the band since the beginning, and although it's true to say that they've seen their fair share of band members come and go over the years, under his expert patronage they've always delivered to the most exacting of standards.

Most fans would probably agree that in terms of market penetration they were at their absolute peak in the mid to late 1980s/early 1990s, but as a song-smith Thorpe has remained remarkably consistent and resilient for much longer. Recorded last October at several North American shows in support of their sizzling 'Electric Punishment' album, 'Live You To Death 2' is a blistering indictment of VR at their most comfortable in their natural habitat (on stage).

Opening their account with a rampaging run through of the title track from 1988's sophomore album 'Digital Dictator' (still their best to these ears), Thorpe and his compatriots lay waste to everything and everyone that stands before them. Slamming into their set like a nuclear tipped strike, the band are literally on fire as they deliver a fistful of minor league classics both old and new – how does the likes of 'Worlds And Machines', 'I Am The Gun', 'Mastermind', 'You Only Live Twice', 'World Church', and 'Towns On Fire' (amongst others) grab you?

Thorpe and fellow six string gunslinger Bob Capka are in fine form – all broiling riffs and rapid fire solo bursts – whilst the high octane vocal screams of front-man Nick Holleman are reminiscent of an amped up Geoff Tate from twenty-five years ago. Fittingly their set draws to a close with the anthemic 'Soldiers Of The Night' (from the debut of the same name), one of the pivotal tracks that set the ball rolling all those years ago.

Uncompromising, razor sharp Power Metal from a band that never fails to deliver!
