This album does nothing for me, coming across mainly as background music.

The press release for this album states, "Zephrus musical canvas is painted with brush strokes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, and more". Wow! It also states that "Zephrus could be described as akin to Classic Rock, with deep-track originals (?) and epic guitar solos". Get it on the player... this is just up my street.

Strangely, when I did put it on, it turned round the wrong corner and disappeared into the sunset. It is hard to figure exactly what this trio are trying to be. The opening track 'Liquid Sun' is a low key, Folky acoustic tune, not something which should grab you by the throat and make you want to stay for the rest of the journey. 'Fraxure' has a little more body to it, with an extended guitar solo, but it is far from epic, and 'Valve' is slow paced, almost background music at the start, and sounds like it's going to break from its chains about 1:45 in, but doesn't.

Fireworks - The Ultimate Magazine For Melodic Rock Music

This proves to be a theme throughout the album as it lacks power and emotion, with none of the tracks having anything that actually moves you. 'Valhalla' turns a little Jazzy, which turns me off straight away, and the guitar does nothing for me at all, while 'Circles' sounds very Brazilian. There is a bit of life on here with 'Waiting For Nothing,' but it doesn't go anywhere, and the start of 'Drive' is almost heavy with distorted guitar which borrows quite a lot from Zeppelin's 'Nile Song'. The other track that borrows a bit is 'Limbwalker', where the vocals sound a bit like Yes, right at the beginning, but it is not Yes by a long way.

So, this album does nothing for me, coming across mainly as background music. It actually has a hidden track with a solo acoustic, vocal track, where the singer (I assume it's Corey Cranston) taps his feet while he plays. At one point the tapping goes out of time, which probably tells you everything.
