Lovebite have the right idea, but they need to develop and establish their own traits and qualities.

The hooks, the hair, the drugs, the alcohol and Rock 'n' Roll; Lovebite have set out to keep the standards of Hair Metal alive in the modern world. There is a debate on the end of this era spreading across all musical social platforms and the diminishing of the Rock genre from this contemporary era and its future. There is so much influence in today's Rock/Metal scene and bands/artists replicating that musical period with Lovebite being one of them; it shows it hasn't died yet, so let's not quite write it off even in the event it may yet happen.

Take a selection of the leading front-runners: Skid Row, Poison, Pretty Boy Floyd and Faster Pussycat; Lovebite's album 'Lock N Load' is a full representation of the adolescence, personality and musical style of the above mentioned artists.

'Sin City' speaks the language of pure riffage and solid groove. The melodramatic vocals bring the theatrical element to the record but can seem a bit false and synthetic in the pronunciations and twangs on certain lyrics as it imitates the pioneer voices.

'Breakin' The Rules' dawns with flamboyance as it pulses through their guitar licks along with the tongue in cheek lyrics. For the SR fans, their influence is the very heartbeat of the track 'Love/Hate'. The meaty opening would apprehend any listener through strong hooks and a heavy drive. The solo is full of favour and gives the track a bursting shot of adrenaline. 'Hey Baby' is their first slow song on the album with an acoustic guitar beginning, with a bellowing bass drum which gives a powerful start. However, as the song progresses, the drums have an "off" feel as if there is an electric kit being used or an artificial recording giving a weak impression to that composition. The solo is on a similar scale and quality to the solo pieces from Hear N' Aid's 'Stars'.

The problem with this album is that it lacks its own identity. The characteristics and phrasing on the record don't represent their own persona but presents replicas and shadows of previous work. Lovebite have the right idea, but they need to develop and establish their own traits and qualities within their own work, then, hopefully, we can see this genre truly moving on with the rest of the musical world.
