Simplistic it may be, but this is plenty of fun.
Simplistic it may be, but this is plenty of fun. Danger doesn't say much about themselves, but there's a party going on here and it would be great to get an invite. Riffs are Hairy and Sleazy, the beats are big, the bass throbbing, the vocals are saucy and the choruses could be sung for a week.
Yes, it's all been done before, but this has a spark which renders it more than just a nostalgia trip. 'D.C.A. Hollywood' shows softer Hair, 'Body To Body' runs to the Van Halen playbook and uses it judiciously enough that by the time we're left thinking "was that Van Halen?", it's all over in a swath of empty bottles and sticky furniture. Michael Monroe has to be referenced of course and on 'Rockstar' the bubblegum popping "nah nah nah's" and gorgeous open solo do him proud.
Of course some of this is off the peg, but never is it tired. The album photos are so Motley Poison and they try so hard to have a good time that it's difficult to not be swept up in it. Rob Nasty, Jesse Kid, Mackey Gee and Rob Paris have the ability to deliver and the time to enjoy it. Dumb, young, and as likeable as a kiss from an old lover.
