With 'F4UR' Denander has crafted an album that makes you remember why you fell in love with AOR in the first place.

It's been quite a while since Tommy "AOR is in my blood" Denander graced us with a new Radioactive album, ten years to be precise. They do say however, that good things come to those who wait and this album entitled 'F4ur' is proof of this. It has almost everything any self-respecting fan of AOR could possibly want in an album; that being catchy, hook filled songs, musicianship right out of the top drawer, a powerful yet warm complimentary production and finally a set of guest singers that all lovers of this great genre should want to hear time and time again.

On this release, Denander has used his Brother system to ask many of his old friends to sing for him, with names like Jeff Paris, Robin Beck, Dan Reed, Steve Walsh, David Roberts, Jean Beauvoir, James Christian and Bobby Kimball. From that list, you will already have guessed that what you're going to listen to is probably something a little bit special and you know what? You wouldn't be far off the mark.

Firstly there are three songs that feature two of our late and greatest singers, the legends that are Fergie Frederiksen and Jimi Jamison. The former sings on 'Back To The Game' and 'Just A Man' whilst Jamison appears on 'Summer Rains' and they show just what we've lost and I can't say more than that. Putting those three wonderful songs aside, you'll also find ten other tracks tailored to each of their guest vocalists talents allowing the best to be extracted from each singer's performance.

Paris is outstanding during his two songs, 'Beautiful Lies' and 'Start All Over', and they could so easily have come off 'Wired Up'. These two songs alone should immediately make someone take this man into a studio and make him record a new album just as soon as is possible. Walsh on 'The Piper', with its slightly Progressive guitar, is marvellous and the song itself reminded me of Kansas during their 'Power' era; it's one of 'F4UR's stand-out tracks. Then there's Kimball's 'Heart Come Alive', Reed's 'If Only My Memory Could Lie', Beauvoir's 'You'll Find The Fire' and Beck's 'When The Silence Gets Too Loud' to get to grips with and for your delectation.

With 'F4UR' Denander has crafted an album that makes you remember why you fell in love with AOR in the first place, which for me was being able to listen to amazing songs, played by superb musicians and sung by the best singers you could ever want to hear. A winner... enough said!
