Melodic Hard Rock perfection, grab your air guitar and throw the horns up.
I've always had a soft spot for Trixter so I was a very happy man when they released 'New Audio Machine' after reforming back in 2012, even more so given it was a fantastic album. Some bands and musicians from the past who have returned to the Melodic Rock scene in recent years have supplied just as much disappointment as joyous returns to action. Thankfully Trixter are in the latter category and are back bigger, badder and more "kick ass" than ever.
So I was beyond excitable to hear 'Human Era' and it's it pleasure to say I wasn't disappointed and my high expectations were met. The term "all killer, no filler" is extremely overused these days, but in the case of 'Human...', it's a fitting term for this solid slab of Melodic Rock goodness that is full of infectious anthems with killer choruses and energetic rhythms.
The overall feel of this album is just fun time, uplifting Party Rock and the amount of sing-along choruses and infectious guitar licks that it contains is simply not funny. Trixter's latest should come with a health warning because sore throats and twisted fingers from excessive air guitar widdling will be endemic following release day.
One thing that I think helps Trixter stand out is they are not afraid to tweak and modernize their sound, therefore keeping themselves and their music vital and exciting; many other bands trying to recreate the past come across as sterile and bland. These modernizations aren't anything to be scared of and are, in most cases, quite subtle and they are simply embracing some Pop Rock elements prominent in American music. Traditionalists may be spitting their dummies right out now but don't panic, 'Human...' is one hundred percent Trixter and will definitely have established fans jumping for joy like kids at Christmas.
All these songs have a fantastic energy and are definitely written with an ear towards them causing a big impact live. I'm salivating over the prospect of hearing the likes of 'Midnight In Your Eyes', 'All Night Long', 'Every Second Counts' and the emotive power ballad 'Beats Me Up' in the live setting.
'Human Era' is the embodiment of the term Party Rock and this album would provide a great, uplifting Rock and Roll ambience to any self-respecting Melodic Rockers shindig! To me, this is surely going to be one of the biggest hits in the Melodic Rock world this year and should be a top priority purchase; just remember the crate of beer and strippers to accompany it!
