Music like this is an art form that is becoming an increasing rarity these days.

Another year goes by and we have another Last Autumn's Dream album to get to grips with. Like clockwork, LAD turns up at the start of each New Year with their latest Melodic offering and 2015 is no exception.

'Level Eleven' is, as the title suggests, the eleventh in a long line of great sounding AOR albums from this band and if the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" was ever coined for something, then it would likely be for the music of LAD! However I don't mean that last statement to be taken as a criticism. LAD might not have changed their way of writing, playing and performing AOR that much over the years, but when it brings results as catchy and as well played as this album, then that shouldn't really be much of a problem for anyone.

'Kiss Me' is first out of the gate and it's an up-tempo Rocker with some great guitar work from Andy Malecek that is topped off with that distinct Mikael Erlandsson vocal; it sets out the template for what you're about to hear and enjoy from the rest of the songs. 'Follow Your Heart', the Poppy 'I'll B There 4 U', Classic Rocker 'Losing You' (with its rasping Hammond Organ and hard-hitting riff), 'Delirious', the big production ballad 'Made Of Stone' (on which Erlandsson puts in one of his best vocal performances) and 'Star' are all great AOR songs. LAD seem to be able to write and record these types of songs with ease, it's something that many other AOR/Melodic Rock acts have found hard to achieve.

LAD are a band who will hopefully keep on writing albums of this quality and if they do, who are we to complain? We should be grateful that there are bands still out there who want to record and play music like this because it's an art form that is becoming an increasing rarity these days. So it's eleven albums down for Last Autumn's Dream and hopefully eleven more to come.
