If you really haven't heard Eureka Machines, you really need to experience 'Brain Waves'.

There's a rumour going round that you don't actually know who Eureka Machines are, but of course with 'Brain Waves' being their fourth Power Punked punch of Pop, I know that's a ridiculous thought. I mean, who else has so many hooks squashed into their loud, proud rush of riffs and harmony vocals that you're almost tripping over yourself to join in? Which other band...? Yup, you're right, none. So prepare to be seduced by the surge of 'Human', the chant it, stomp it, chant it, romp it of 'Television' and the staccato insomnia of 'Sleep Deprivation'.

Add '...Waves' to your life and you'll find the plugged into the mains Rock 'n' Roll of 'Welcome To My Shangri-La' gnawing into the soft stuff in your head before jettisoning out of your mouth for days on end whereas 'The Golden Lonely' could only be catchier if it came with a baseball mitt! 'Neuro Bolero' fuses a scything swipe of glistening goody globules to a verse that bobs and weaves its attack into darting forays of fun while 'Every Day I Thank The World I Cut You Off' reveals a restrained side that EM have only previously hinted at, the effect all the more startling for the whip cracks of Power Pop which surround it.

However that doesn't stop 'We're Going To The Future' closing the album with a chorus which wraps you up in harmony goodness, coaxing you to let go of your worries and simply come along for the ride. Vitally, these bursts of happy good times come with an insightful, mature, thought provoking ethos which comments on the world round us without preaching; the hit of cracking choruses just as impactful with or without the messages to back them up.

If you really haven't heard Eureka Machines, you really need to experience 'Brain Waves'. If you can stop shouting the words and careening around the house to the insistent beats and rip-roaring guitars just long enough to do so, you'll thank me that you did.
