The Jokers release new single and tour with Hayseed Dixie and Hawkwind

The Jokers, who burst out of the starting blocks with their debut ‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ album in Summer 2009, follow with the release an irresistible brand new single, ‘Jamie Jane’, on October 4th, distributed by Cargo. The accompanying, big budget, wide screen video has already been added to Scuzz TV’s classic rock show.


The Jokers, who have lined up a special guest slot with Hayseed Dixie at London’s Islington O2 Academy on October 4th, the day of release of ‘Jamie Jane’, have also been confirmed as Special Guests of Hawkwind on their December UK tour. Dates are:-

‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ was awarded ‘Album Of The Month’ in Powerplay Magazine’s July 2009 issue. “This new band of Scouse scamps have eschewed the musical heritage of their city to prostrate themselves at the altar of Zeppelin, Cream and T-Rex. The album was recorded in a bedroom, but ‘Black Ice’ mixer Mike Fraser got involved when he heard the songs. Of course he did; quality of this sort is rare. ‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ might be, along with Ooh La La’s last disc, the best sleaze/funk/retro album of the year so far…Big rock and roll show? Absolutely. Another Fab Four from that city on the Mersey. 10/10” (Steve Swift). A whole host of radio stations all over the UK, including Planet Rock, Total Rock Radio and Rock Radio FM Manchester then added album tracks to their playlists, while both BBC6’s Bruce Dickinson and BBC2’s Alex Lester began championing and playing Jokers’ tracks on air.


The Jokers subsequently began working on the follow up to ‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ with engineer / mixer Andy Macpherson at Revolution Studios in Cheshire in the Spring of 2010. If ‘Jamie Jane’, the first fruit of this new collaboration, is anything to go by, The Jokers’ second album will be stunning.

  • SeaDog57 : just an observation. I just got Issue 89 at the Bookstore and when i looked at the spine of the magazine it says "Fireworks Issue 85 Winter Jan - Mar 2019" Was this a misprint? The rest of the Magazine is Issue 89. Was just wondering did anyone else notice this?
