The Jokers release new single and tour with Hayseed Dixie and Hawkwind

Classic Hard Rocker’s Captivating New ‘Jamie Jane’ Single Released 4th October / Special Guests Of Hayseed Dixie @ London Islington O2 Academy October 4th / Special Guest Slot On Hawkwind’s 13 Date December UK Tour

“If you’re going to start nominating yourself for the intermittently vacant position of rock’n’roll standard bearers, you’d better have the sound, the swagger and the songs. Fortunately, The Jokers have all three in large amounts. This is good time r’n’r with great respect for tradition – and an iPod bursting with The Faces and Mott – but with a modern funkiness redolent of The Stone Roses’ ‘Love Spreads’ and a dash of The Answer’s heaviness. Frontman Wane Parry has one of those voices designed to incite a riot of dancing and Olympic standard drinking, and every song is alive with a real sense of joyful bonhomie. Most attempts to nail that elusive rock’n’roll spirit fall flat because the band simply don’t have the juice. The Jokers, meanwhile, are swimming in it. 8/10”  - Dom Lawson, reviewing the Jokers’ debut ‘Big Rock And Roll Show’ album in Classic Rock’s Summer 2009 issue.

The Jokers, who burst out of the starting blocks with their debut ‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ album in Summer 2009, follow with the release an irresistible brand new single, ‘Jamie Jane’, on October 4th, distributed by Cargo. The accompanying, big budget, wide screen video has already been added to Scuzz TV’s classic rock show.

The Jokers, who have lined up a special guest slot with Hayseed Dixie at London’s Islington O2 Academy on October 4th, the day of release of ‘Jamie Jane’, have also been confirmed as Special Guests of Hawkwind on their December UK tour. Dates are:-

December 3rd - Holmfirth Picturedrome
December 4th - Glasgow 02 ABC
December 5th - Newcastle 02 Academy
December 6th - Lincoln Engine Shed
December 8th - Wolverhampton Wulfrun
December 9th - Worthing Assembly Hall
December 10th - Liverpool O2 Academy
December 11th - Manchester Academy
December 12th - Salisbury City Hall
December 14th - Bristol 02 Academy
December 15th - Bedford Corn Exchange
December 16th - Oxford 02 Academy
December 17th - HMV Forum London

‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ was awarded ‘Album Of The Month’ in Powerplay Magazine’s July 2009 issue. “This new band of Scouse scamps have eschewed the musical heritage of their city to prostrate themselves at the altar of Zeppelin, Cream and T-Rex. The album was recorded in a bedroom, but ‘Black Ice’ mixer Mike Fraser got involved when he heard the songs. Of course he did; quality of this sort is rare. ‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ might be, along with Ooh La La’s last disc, the best sleaze/funk/retro album of the year so far…Big rock and roll show? Absolutely. Another Fab Four from that city on the Mersey. 10/10” (Steve Swift). A whole host of radio stations all over the UK, including Planet Rock, Total Rock Radio and Rock Radio FM Manchester then added album tracks to their playlists, while both BBC6’s Bruce Dickinson and BBC2’s Alex Lester began championing and playing Jokers’ tracks on air.

The Jokers subsequently began working on the follow up to ‘The Big Rock And Roll Show’ with engineer / mixer Andy Macpherson at Revolution Studios in Cheshire in the Spring of 2010. If ‘Jamie Jane’, the first fruit of this new collaboration, is anything to go by, The Jokers’ second album will be stunning.
