It has had me entranced and staggered by its scope since I first played it.

I truly believe that music has healing powers. Music helps when you're down, makes you happy when you need cheering up, and makes you want to dance and sing – music makes you feel. It is also a very subjective art form; you can never describe to someone else, why this or that song touches you so deeply because it's such a personal medium. It speaks to the individual on levels that no one else can understand. I also believe, even though I'm a dyed in the wool Atheist, that music can touch your soul (if there is such a thing).

Subsignal (and before them Sieges Even) are for me personally a band who's music does these things each and every time I listen to their songs. Their music always makes me feel good in myself and after I've spent an hour or so in their company, I have always come away feeling much better both in mind and body. Their new album 'The Beacons Of Somewhere Sometime' took over a year to write and record and it has had me entranced and staggered by its scope since I first played it.

So where do I begin to tell you what 'Tempest', 'And The Rain Will Wash It All Away', 'Ashes Of Summer', 'A Time Out Of Joint' or 'A Myth Written On Water' mean to me? It's possibly easier just to tell you about the last song on the album, the twenty minute plus epic title track, which encompasses all the great things that embody Subsignal's music.

The track itself is split into four distinct parts, with recurring musical themes that resonate throughout the length of the song. Then as the twenty minutes continue to turn, Subsignal draw you into an ethereal world that they have created. The song is full of sweeping time changes, glorious harmonies, theatrical guitar and keyboard fills and lyrics that speak of love, life and loss. You're soon taken from where you are, to a place where you're soon lost in a beautiful musical world that calms and soothes your many senses.

In the end there is not much else I can say about this album other than for Prog fans this is a must have, and for everyone else please do yourself a favour and just give it a try. It's striking, gripping and the magnetic musicality is simply sublime and it will do its best to ensnare you as well.
