This album may not be everybody's cup of tea but Yes diehards will definitely find something of interest.

Ex-Yes front-man Jon Anderson should require no introduction to our readers; however Jean Luc Ponty may not be so familiar, admittedly I've not heard any of his music. Ponty is a pioneer and undisputed master of the violin in the arena of Jazz and Rock. He is widely regarded as an innovator who has applied his unique visionary spin that has expanded the vocabulary of modern music for almost fifty years.

In September last year the APB gave a special live performance at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado. The show was filmed and recorded and 'Better Late Than Never' is the result; a new studio album taken from the live performance which, according to the press release, has been enhanced with innovative production.

'One In The Rhythm Of Hope' is a strong opener, Anderson's vocals sound better than they have done during the last few years, guitarist Jamie Glaser adds some nice chops and Ponty's violin is everywhere. 'A For Aria' is a slower number awash with keyboards and dominated by violin once again. 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart' is pretty similar to Yes' version, apart from Trevor Rabin's guitar being replaced by violin. I'm sure the audience enjoyed this one, I certainly did!

'Listening With Me' is a re-working of Ponty's 'Stay With Me' to which Anderson has added lyrics and it's a decent mid-paced number which grows on you with repeated plays. Yes' thirty-five year old 'Time And A Word' is up next and has been "Reggaefied"; it sounds very much like Sting's take on The Police's 'The Bed's Too Big Without You' and includes a great solo from Glaser; Anderson even sings a snippet of The Beatles' 'She Loves You'.

'Infinite Mirage' is another Ponty song (Mirage) to which Anderson has added lyrics and it features fine drumming from Rayford Griffin and, of course, wonderful violin once again. Yes classics 'Wonderous Stories' and 'And You And I' are next up to be given the Ponty treatment and come across very well.

'Renaissance Of The Sun' is another Ponty number and is very reminiscent of Sting's solo work – very Jazzy and a real grower. 'Roundabout' I'm sure had all the fans on their feet; it is quite Rocky and upbeat and does the original justice with a lovely violin solo from Ponty. 'I See You Messenger' is an extremely catchy tune and difficult to get out of your head after several spins.

This album may not be everybody's cup of tea but Yes diehards will definitely find something of interest. A deluxe edition includes a DVD featuring footage from the show and interviews.
