This album is perfect from any perspective.

From Dallas, Texas, Millennial Reign is a band formed by ASKA's bassist Dave Harvey in 2010. At the beginning of this project, Harvey was in charge of all the arrangements and guitar/bass parts and it basically started like a personal matter; that said, the first album was absolutely cohesive and there was no trace of egomaniacal ambitions. Instead, it emerged from nowhere as an impressive underground classic and it came out to be an album that really should need some proper re-issue and promotion in order to satisfy those who suffer from a Mass/Dokken addiction.

They used to be (and are still) what is commonly defined as a Christian Metal band or CCM group but, believe me, Harvey is such an intense song-writer who just can skip any bigotry or stereotypes about this genre. Indeed 'Carry The Fire' takes a step forward from the previous effort, also in terms of sound, resulting more elaborate and inclined to the most melodic American Power Metal of icons like Crimson Glory and (early) Queensryche.

The new singer James Guest (coming from Eden's Realm) surely helped to exalt this improved progression of sound with a voice that reminds of outsiders like Geoff Tate, Rik Emmet, Geddy Lee and even Steve Perry. Also the rhythm section was reinforced by the addiction of bassist Daniel Almagro and drummer Wayne Stokley and these guys did a crucial job on this album, especially on tracks like 'Save Me', a powerful hybrid between Rush and Triumph, and 'Innocent Cry', an epic voyage with hints of Arabic harmonies that resembles the most enigmatic and mysterious repertoire of CG.

'Way Up High', instead, is a magniloquent and celestial composition which Michael Sweet and his pals in black and yellow would be absolutely jealous of. Even then, there's still space for a Dokken-esque riff, like the one during 'Not On My Own', another immaculately brilliant song that makes this album perfect from any perspective. That all comes before you mention the production, which are is of the best I've ever experienced, all this from an almost independent and more than honourable band.
