I would encourage them to employ a proven vocalist for their sophomore release.

Darkness Light is the project of two long-time friends Cristian Bettendorf (guitars, keyboards) and Dietrich "Dixie" Krauser (vocals, bass, keyboards and guitars). They first met back in the nineties when Krauser moved from Hamburg to the city of Augsburg in south-west Bavaria; Krauser's home town is actually Temeschburg in Romania but he emigrated to Germany back in 1985.

The pair first started recording the album back in 2011, however, the release of 'Living With The Danger' was delayed due to Krauser being diagnosed with a severe illness during the initial recording process but, thankfully, he made a full recovery and the album is now ready to be released.

Krauser's vocals are heavily accented but he has one of the clearest dictions that you are ever likely to hear; no need for a lyric sheet here with his almost near-perfect annunciation. The former will surely put off many listeners as will the sometimes questionable lyrics and the over replication of the chorus on many of the ten songs on '...Danger'.

'Adrenaline' (pronounced "Adrenalean") is a competent Rocker as is the title track, although both songs do repeat the chorus too many times for my liking, however the guitar work is very impressive. The pick of the first three Rockers is title track 'Darkness Light'. 'No No More' slows down the pace and here Krauser's heartfelt accent works well.

'Bad Boys Are Better' is every bit as bad as you would imagine from the title and must be in the running for the worst song of the year. Fortunately, the band redeems themselves straight away with the Scorpions style ballad 'Song For You'. 'It Was Just Dreaming' has a pounding bass line and liberally interchanges between Power Pop and Classic Rock (listen out for a similar riff to Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song').

The catchy 'For Another Sunny Day' strays into Euro Pop territory with a Funky keyboard sound. 'Long Ago' heads back towards the Melodic Hard Rock whilst still retaining a Pop feel. The album concludes with the twelve minute 'Alone' that has some impressive guitar work but is just far too long and probably could have been cut down to seven or eight minutes.

Bettendorf and Krauser are undoubtedly great musicians and can write some very good melodies, however, they certainly need some assistance with their lyrics and need to refrain from the over-repeating of the choruses.

Without wanting to sound harsh, I would encourage them to employ a proven vocalist for their sophomore release.
