This second effort from Dragony is indeed an exceptional and epic journey.

Alright! Grab your best tux, or gown – whatever you prefer – because you should be dressed "to the nines" when listening to 'Shadowplay'; this second effort from Dragony is indeed an exceptional and epic journey!

The album opens up with a tremendous performance, one that is purely epic in scope and purely superb throughout; this release is an absolute delight! The group, which was founded by vocalist Siegfried Samer and guitarist Daniel Stockinger, was to be a vehicle for the highest form of Symphonic Metal that the two could create, utilising the studio to maximum effect. In rapid fashion, the two founders added equally talented musicians in Georg Lorenz, Herbert Glos, Frederic Brünner, and Andreas Poppernitsch and turned this mega project in to a mega band!

In keeping with their initial vision, they set about creating something that would live and breathe within the Symphonic Rock spectrum, surrounded by a wall of voices that would soar in to the Operatic spectrum. A hefty vision and one that they succeed in.

With this foundation, they expanded upon and polished it to new heights and Dragony's first album, 'Legends', was released in 2012 worldwide. Also in the same year, Stockinger and Lorenz left with Simon Saito (guitars) and Manuel Hartleb (keys) joining – however, the vision stayed intact.

'Shadowplay' is the unit's second chapter, and what a chapter this is! It showcases each and every member's extreme talent and brings it all into perfect balance! From Hard Melodic Rock to deep choir-like vocals with Samer's extremely fine voice rising to the forefront. Each selection is driven by voice and guitar, alongside thundering orchestral undertones. This effort just exudes with power!

Like the city they hail from – Vienna – Dragony create heroic and mesmerising music, each piece moves flawlessly in to the next. The fast moving and vital percussion of Brunner is evenly matched with the fret-work of bassist Glos. The wall of voices we hear are raised even higher with the guitar-driven performances of both Saito and Poppernitsch. The Symphonic touches from Hartleb are almost unbelievable! Everyone creating musical journeys that are enticing, dripping with emotion and creating glorious rivers of... nay... oceans of sound!

Dragony's music is full-bodied, and muscular, laying before us mountains of sound. On this second effort, we hear these mighty mountains of sonic brilliance, and if one closes their eyes, you can envision seeing these extraordinary musicians gathered on stage, creating and performing musical movements of pure majesty! Just listening to this album will move you to dress "to the nines" because Dragony's music is nine more!

Indulge in what 'Shadowplay' is; a magical and regal musical journey and classic story of life, love, good and evil – with everything in between!
