A classy Hard Melodic Rock attack that never disappoints.

Some albums are a treat to listen to, this is one such item. Never mind that it contains Vinnie Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio) and Craig Goldy (Dio), never mind that Serafino Perugino was involved in the conception for Frontiers, this is a classy Hard Melodic Rock attack that never disappoints.
If you want commercial Hard Rock with an unashamed eighties bent and melodies you can hum for weeks, this is for you. Whatever they do here, they achieve quality with enough of a spark to ensure these songs are not just genre samples.

The artwork has a vibrant fantasy edge to it and the music comes from a distant time, a time of leg warmers and chicken in a basket; Chas West (Red Dragon Cartel) is a mini David Coverdale throughout, never more so than on the "nod and wink" saucy 'Path Of Love' and über ballad 'Never Say Goodbye', which links so close to Whitesnake in the late eighties it might as well be on the deeds of the house.

Elsewhere though, 'Wash Away' is balls-out Melodic Rock with a beautifully judged chorus, 'Who Do You Run To' has a hard-edged Metallic rolling groove that all great tracks of this type have and 'Had Enough' links arms with Dio's tight riffing and gorgeous melodies. Only closer 'What You Take' might be a little on the weak side; just one track from eleven, not a bad score.

Goldy's solos are so emotionally effective (he kicks some shit on 'Don't Have To Fight No More' too), the backline thumps and the mix is meaty. Alessandro Del Vecchio can be proud of the stuff he has written here, as can the band. This is quality Rock played by quality musicians and surely should be in Rocking stockings all over the land this Christmas.

Please don't let it be forgotten like that other great Melodic Hard Rock brilliance, Rated X; that would be so hard to bear.
