With a bit of thought to production, and possibly considering writing the music more around the vocalist, it could have been much better.

Liking my Rock music to have a big, orchestral sound, I was asked to listen to this with the intention of reviewing it. I had never heard of these guys before being allocated this release and having done a little research I found out they originate from Switzerland, (who have produced a few Metal bands over the years, Celtic Frost being one).

What is more, the vocalist is female, which fits nicely into the type of band and music I have really come to like over the past few years. The album opens, as some would expect, with 'Eden's Fall', an orchestral instrumental, which had everything I wanted to hear. The track doesn't last very long and flows straight into 'With All My Love,' a solid piece of Metal which introduced us to Melody Dylem on vocals.

And initially, there was a bit of a problem for me as her voice, while in tune and singing the right notes in the right order, sounded altogether too light for this style of music. I will try to paint a picture. When you have a forty stone, eight-foot brown bear bellowing at you, with a jelly baby in front trying to shout it down, guess which one is going to win. She even went Falsetto on this, which doesn't work for me at all. The sheer power and full sound of most of the tracks just tends to drown her out most of the time, and you cannot tell what she is singing. But as I listened through it, I realised how good the music was and, on subsequent listens, this tended to bother me a little less.

The third song, cunningly titled 'Elferya', was both mellow and ferocious in equal part, but the vocals still didn't dominate the music. I then played it on a more inferior musical system and the voice, as well as the guitar solos, tended to cut through a little more, which tells me that the EQ likely needed a bit of tweaking. 'Ghost Of Mary' has a really nice "middle eight", courtesy of Lionel Blanc on keyboards, while 'The Dreamcatcher' and 'Alone With You' have an Irish feel, mainly down to Mathilde Sonney on violin. 'Toys Of A Modern Man' features an almost Viking-like choir in the background, whereas instrumental 'Across The Earth' reminds me of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The album also ends quite nicely with 'Close Your Eyes', a track that fittingly has a quiet, dreamscape quality.

So this album did grow on me the more I listened to it, but, with a bit of thought to production, and possibly considering writing the music more around the vocalist, it could have been much better.
