With Hansen's steady leadership, I think things are really looking up for them.

In 2008 Pyramaze released their third album 'Immortal' and after promoting and touring with it, they appeared to just fade away, never to be heard of again - or so we thought.

After multiple line-up changes and a revolving door of singers, the band have finally returned after a seven year absence with 'Disciples Of The Sun'. The new album sees Jacob Hansen (recognised producer for Epica, Primal Fear and Amaranthe, to name but a few) taking up the song-writing, production and guitar duties for the band and his inclusion has revitalised not only the sound of the band, but everything about Pyramaze. This new album could, in effect, be taken as another debut from them and I have to admit, the energy and joie de vivre found throughout its twelve tracks is a thrill to hear.

Listen to the title cut just once and tell me that this doesn't seem/sound like a new band that have just started out. The acute enjoyment they appear to be having as they play the song pushes the track to a climactic ending, which is only the start of the good things to come.

'Back For More', 'Genetic Process', 'Hope Springs Eternal', the brooding 'Unveil' and the skilfully arranged 'When Black Turns To White' are songs that any fan of the Melodic Power Metal genre will want to get to know. But for me, it's not just the songs this time that deserve all the plaudits. It's also the Pyramaze band members themselves, led by Hansen, who have really stepped up to the plate; not only have they given Pyramaze a fresh new start, but they have taken things onto a whole new level. I would honestly say, take a bow Terje Harøy (vocals), Hansen (guitars and bass), Jonah Weingarten (keyboards), Toke Skjønnemand (guitars) and Morten Gade Sørensen (drums).

Let us all hope that Pyramaze, who it would seem now have a steady hand at the rudder, can use 'Disciples Of The Sun' as the building block to go on to the bigger and better things that they always threatened to do, but for some reason never quite achieved. With Hansen's steady leadership, I think things are really looking up for them.
