The guitar work is definitely the highlight of the album.

What is great about 2015 is seeing the reappearance, and in some cases the continuation, of so many bands with history that dates back to the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Joining the trend are Dygitals, formed in 1984 with reunions in 2003, 2005 and 2009, who are back with their latest album 'Dynamite'.

The title track is pacey Hard Rock with a catchy tongue-twister of a riff. '30 Years Of Rock' is a tribute to Rock bands throughout the decades but it doesn't offer much in tribute to them in terms of melody and punch. All the parts of Dygitals are competent and interesting, especially the guitar and drum parts, but the vocals lack any real depth and the tracks have a tendency to become a bit drone-like.

'No Speed Limit', for example, opens with great energy but the vocals just aren't equal in pitch and delivery to match the instrumentation. The solos on the album are a showcase of David Dugaro and Jean-Marc Lavayssiere's skill, running up and down the finger-board throughout the album. The guitar work is definitely the highlight of the album. It's light-hearted, fun and even a little bit cheeky. The opening of 'Everybody Knows' is reminiscent of Gotthard's 'I Know You Know' with a chilling, muted tone on the guitar.

You never really feel like Dygitals have a signature sound as such, one that unites the whole album. Consequently, there's sparks here and there, like the melodic chorus of 'Will You Help Me', but they're scattered, short-lived embers.

The classic track is 'We Wanna Live Free'; it's got pop and rhythm whilst vocalist Herve Traisnel makes good use of his higher range. Bassist Jack Gayffier takes centre stage in 'Don't Want To Let You Down' and the guitar and bass work in an almost conversational tandem.

It's an album with a lot of show; licks, tricks and twists are what Dygitals want to show you. This play-like approach from the guitarists definitely helps add some colour and character to an otherwise under-average album.
