A fantastic long lost album that all fans of melodic rock will get a kick out of.

In 1983 Bronz issued their first album, the still superb ‘Taken By Storm’, which went on to sell an impressive 200,000 copies and saw the band play to huge audiences here in the UK, but particularly in the States. Their debut single, the wonderful ‘Send Down An Angel’ was an MTV favourite back when they used to play music videos, and it featured actress Emma Thomson. Yet for whatever reason the band fell apart and guitarist and founder member Shaun Kirkpatrick found himself alone. The good news was that far from the record company abandoning him, it instead wanted him to carry on and make another album with Max Norman as producer. Shaun set about finding new members for Bronz while re-shaping the bands sound, which then led to the recording of ‘Carried By The Storm’ (the world’s first fully digitally recorded album). This album would have been a great follow up to the debut and would have probably seen the band go on to bigger and better things, but again for whatever reason it was never released, and because of this a quality melodic rock album that Fireworks and Rocktopia readers would have loved has lain dormant and gathering dust in some record company’s vaults for twenty years and more.

Now though, thanks to Your Tune records, ‘Carried By The Storm’ is finally available, and let me say the wait has been more than worth it. Singer Ian Baker, who took over the vocal position from Max Bacon, is/was a great find and his powerful yet emotional voice, very reminiscent of Robin McAuley, brings the best out of the songs on this album. Just take a listen to ‘One More Time‘, ‘Carried By The Storm’ the Go West like one-two of ‘Man Girl Machine’ and ‘There’s A Reason’, the cracking ‘Figure In The Dark’ or the cover of Russ Ballard’s ‘Two Silhouettes’, and wonder to yourselves why this band weren’t/aren’t better known in melodic rock circles.

A fantastic long lost album that all fans of melodic rock will get a kick out of, and hopefully the start of something new, like maybe a new album (fingers crossed).
