Airbourne / Crobot - Electric Ballroom, London (UK) - 29 November 2016

When you get over the eerie sensation you are watching Russell Brand tread grapes, Crobot are entertaining stuff. Black Sabbath meets Doctor And The Medics meets Alice In Chains meets Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Queensrÿche meets Faith No More at Woodstock, they're a mash up of styles with influences from the seventies, eighties and nineties and there's even a dash of James Brown in there for seasoning. Even if he does ham it up a bit too much at times, their singer Brandon Yeagley has star quality and he gets the crowd to start chanting for Airbourne, declaring he loves being their entrée or hot sauce.

And indeed the main course tonight is, undoubtedly, Airbourne. Opening with favourite 'Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast', this band have a lust for life and it quickly communicates to their audience. They generously announce that the photographers can take the whole show, although cameras must be covered as lead singer Joel O'Keefe sprays everyone with beer he has banged against his own head several times to excite... not only the beer but the crowd and it still works. They throw in old track 'Hellfire' to make it different for those that have come both nights.

High kicking and running into the crowd on a roadie's shoulders are other things O'Keefe does to get the AC/DC party atmosphere going and the result is crowd surfing aplenty, including two girls, one who does it twice! Blistering guitar solos keep the musicianship high and the sound is good if a little louder than most bands! If AC/DC is your main influence it probably can't be any other way. They also acknowledge that Lemmy Kilmister gave them a leg up along the way and perform the song they wrote for him after his death 'It's All For Rock 'N' Roll'. By the time they reach 'Diamond In The Rough', sweat is literally running down the guitars and the whole things is pretty fuckin' messy in a good way. There's the trade mark air raid siren before the encore and we get three more tracks including O'Keefe playing his guitar atop the 20ft speaker, an excellent medley of Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' and AC/DC's 'Let It Rock' during 'Running Wild', all as the crowd are encouraged to go to work with a hangover and thanked with the promise "Rock 'n' Roll will never die".

Airbourne are always fun and they got the Electric Ballroom Rockin' on a Tuesday night – we expected nothing less and they did not let us down.
