An album that will go far in helping this amazing band break through to the upper echelons of the Melodic Rock world.

I mentioned in my earlier Jim Jidhed review that the way his album was structured was why I loved AOR so much. You can add Lionville's third release to that quote. Pulling out all the stops, the awesome Lars Säfsund (vocals), Michele Cusato (guitars), Giulio Dagnino (bass), Martino Malacrida (drums) and main man Stefano Lionetti (guitars, vocals, keyboards) have written and recorded what can be simply stated as a monster of a Melodic Rock album. The melodies and harmonies resonate, the hooks are unforgettable and the performances from the band members are sublime. Therefore, if you have any love for this genre of music, this album will go a long way to making you a very happy bunny.

'A World Of Fools' opens with the fantastic triumvirate of 'I Will Wait', 'Show Me The Love' and 'Bring Me Back Our Love' where Lionville whack the listener in the ear with great sounding AOR songs. Harmonies abound, choruses lock onto the memory centre of your brain refusing to leave and the band play with an energy and vitality that makes listening to their music a pure delight. Following these, they slow things down with the albums first ballad, the brilliant 'Heaven Is Right Here'. The arrangements, musicianship and vocals on this song blend to perfection and with this one track they show just what a great band they have become over the years. The first half of the album is finished off with the Rocky and hook-filled title cut 'A World Of Fools'.

As the second half of the record begins you are left thinking "wow" as things just get better and better. There's the Jazzy 'One More Night' (check out the mid-song keyboards), the infectious 'All I Want', 'Living' On The Edge', the laid back West Coast flavoured ballad 'Our Good Goodbye', 'Paradise' and 'Image Of Your Soul' to get to grips with and the joy you get out of constantly re-visiting these songs knows no bounds.

AOR, Melodic Rock or whatever you want to label it has to have certain things to make it work and not everyone who tries their hand at it gets it right. Lionville do, and 'A World Of Fools' is an album that will go far in helping this amazing band break through to the upper echelons of the Melodic Rock world. It's a place where, on this showing, they truly belong.
