This is Rock 'n' Roll in its purest form and it's also excellent unadulterated fun.

Heads down, gritty, sleazy, reckless, beer drinking, hell raising, no bullshit Rock 'n' Roll. That's what The Wild! are about. With an EP 'GxDxWxB' (which stands for "God Damn Wild Boys") and now a debut album 'Wild At Heart' under their belt, both produced by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen), this Canadian quartet have a reputation for being the best live acts in their native country. It's a reputation that led to them being signed before their record label execs had even witnessed one of their shows, no mean feat!

With a riff-heavy, raucous, Hard Rockin' sound that heavily takes in the Boogie of AC/DC (but more influenced by the Bon Scott period that leant more into the Blues), I'm reminded of Little Caesar, The Scream, Jackyl, Trucker Diablo, The Georgia Satellites and early Buns N' Toasties amongst a whole host of other names throughout this album. It ain't original but when it's this good that simply doesn't matter. Vocalist Dylan Villain's whisky-soaked, paint-stripping yelp is so close to Austin Winkler's he would have made a perfect replacement for the former Hinder vocalist's role, but he's also a damn fine guitarist to boot too.

First half of the album sees 'Ready To Roll', 'Livin' Free', 'White Devil' and 'Another Bottle' laying down serious grooves, before 'Best In The West', 'Six Hundred Sixty Six' and the frantic 'Rattlesnake Shake' pick up the pace, only temporarily slowing down for the slow Blues of 'Run Home' – think AC/DC's 'Ride On' – with the rollicking boogie of 'Kansas City Shuffle' to close things out in fine form.

This is Rock 'n' Roll in its purest form and it's also excellent unadulterated fun.
