"I'm so excited, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it."

With Accept riding high again with the well received 'Blood Of The Nations' album and tour, you would forgive Herman Frank if he wanted a little down time, but the German axe slinger has been busy in the studio with his new band that sees his wife Martina step up to the mic. Don't worry though this is no vanity project and they make a better team than Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan any day of the week. Martina has a great voice and she told me recently that she's been called the Bonnie Tyler of metal, which is a pretty good description of her gutsy delivery. Musically, it's not as dark as Herman's Moon Doc records or his last solo outing 'Loyal To None' but his guitar work can still slice your head off. It's melodic metal that'll get your foot tapping as much as your head banging. It's refreshing to hear female fronted metal that gives the melodic rock boys a run for their money and isn't another gothic symphonic effort.

The liner notes term the songs "Groove Monsters", and nowhere is that a more apt description than on the terrific opener 'Voodoo' which is like a souped up version of Sass Jordon's 'Rats' record. 'Hitman' has Herman adding his voice to great effect on a track that has a great Ozzy vibe to it. Herman's full frontal guitar attack is matched by the rhythm section of Florian Schonweitz and Stefan Hammer whose no holds barred onslaught ensures every track is turbo charged and brimming with infectious energy. 'Phobia' is another fine track that has Brian Johnson era AC/DC tattooed all over it.

There may be a few raised eyebrows at the choice of cover song; the Pointer Sisters' massive 80s hit 'Excited'. It's not wholly representative of the album and it's the only track that betrays Martina's accent. However, by the time it hits the chorus it's won you over. If they ever get to take this band on the road this track would go down a storm. In a couple of places you might find it hard to decipher what's being sung, but hey this is rock n roll, not Broadway. The entire record sounds like everyone's having a blast and it's effect on you may be best described by a line from that Pointer Sisters' cover, "I'm so excited, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it".
