An album with a different feel, on which Phillips steps up and who will most likely share a little more of the limelight with Momsen.

Anyone who has seen The Pretty Reckless, will know that there is a central figure in the band, someone that puts everybody else a little in the shade. Most bands have a central figure, but when that person is Taylor Momsen, with her particular style of dress and personality, this is the person that most people notice. Maybe then, this album will change that perception.

It would be fair to say that it was going to be a challenge to follow their second album, 'Going To Hell', which I personally thought was very accomplished. Tracks like 'Follow Me Down', 'Heaven Knows', 'Going To Hell' and my favourite 'House On A Hill' all showed a maturity in writing that can be hard to follow. And to be honest, I don't think they have tried to do that, having transformed slightly with an edgier sound, whilst at the same time unleashing a bit of a beast in Ben Phillips.

The album opens with a really nice piano/vocal, which only lasts for forty-five seconds (be interesting to see if it transforms into something longer) before turning into 'Hangman', a song which builds with crescendos; not complicated, but effective. 'Oh My God' has a bit of a "wow" factor, as the guitar riff and drum pattern changes four times in the first verse, before a middle-8 section that reminds me of seventies Alice Cooper, then the whole thing comes to quite an abrupt end.

There are a few different flavours on here with 'Wild City' having a taste of Big Band (that is until Phillips goes wild on guitar), 'Bedroom Window' being a quiet acoustic number, while 'Already Dead' starts out as slow Blues. The last track, 'Mad Love', is possibly the one that people will skip as it is almost a Dance/Disco track which is a bit of a surprise. That opinion stated, kudos to them though for trying different things though.

Overall, an album with a different feel, on which Phillips steps up (he also gets to blaze on 'Living In The Storm') and who will most likely share a little more of the limelight with Momsen.
