I believe we possibly have a new Metal Queen.

I remember reviewing Sister Sin few years ago for another magazine in Italy, I was totally amazed and overwhelmed by their sound and their fascinating singer, an attractive and imposing lady in black with a voice that sat between Alice Cooper, Doro Pesch and Udo Dirkschneider. However, if back in those days they could been described as sounding like a malicious blend of W.A.S.P./Nasty Idols/Motörhead, today Liv "Sin" Jagrell has taken a slight detour from her past and moved forward, almost as a solo artist, in the direction of a tighter and heavier approach.

The first three introducing tracks are enough to reveal the new course of Liv Sin's creative nature, a full-force, urgent frontal attack in the vein of the most classic Accept that exposes the new music environment in which this dark Amazonian-like vocalist is involved in at the moment. Actually, the album was co-produced by long time Accept and U.D.O. member Stefan Kaufmann and U.D.O. bassist Fitty Wienhold, something that probably explains why this new proposal sounds more Teutonic than Swedish to say the least.

The "Swedish aspects" of 'Follow Me' reside more in the innate ability of setting up strong, catchy and determined hooks that literally perforate your ears, also thanks to the fury of this screaming singer. Another nice Nordic detail dwells in the presence of Jyrki 69 (The 69 Eyes), his death tone Baritone perfectly matches the weighty, Gothic pace of the fatal 'Immortal Sin' and compensates Jagrell's lacerating, aggressively high-pitched war cry.

One thing is for sure, Jagrell must be praised for her courage – and talent, of course – and the will and want to take herself and her artistic persona to a more serious and "take no prisoners" level. A large number of female musicians (and male for that matter), especially when they are so aesthetically gifted, would definitely go for a more approachable and commercially easy path. Instead, she decided to show up her talent in terms of untameable power, a decision that all of the Metal defenders and purists of the world will sanction as an act of bravery and confidence. I believe we possibly have a new Metal Queen.
