Well, if Rock and Roll is war, Normandic noisemakers Winfield have occasions when a truce breaks out. They may cite Nashville Pussy, Motörhead and Pantera, but this album has good diversions. Yes, it's tough and nasty, no better than on 'Kingdom Of Gold', head down and growling, but 'Goddamn Loud' beckons you into the lounge at its centre and 'Hell & High Water' even allows a banjo to peek into the background picture.
Let's not forget the filthy 'You Make Me Sick', from Punk N' Roll to Classic Rock in two easy moves, and the shuddering, gargantuan hammer of 'Thank You' either...
There is more to Winfield than may meet the eye; just don't get them mixed up with Whigfield!
