This debut shows a vocalist at the top of his game.

Aaron Buchanan first came to prominence as the vocalist on the excellent Heavens Basement debut album 'Filthy Empire' way back in 2012. He left amicably to form his own band in 2015, having worked on the demos for 'The Man With Stars On His Knees' during his time with the band.

The album has an old-school approach; ten songs with a running time of just over thirty minutes, and though the songs are skilfully crafted, there's a neat modern edge to the proceedings. Think a rawer, looser, more Classic Rock-orientated Daughtry (circa the debut) and you won't be far off; 'All The Things You've Said And Done', 'The Devil That Needs You' and 'Dancin' Down Below' being prime examples.

Fireworks - The Ultimate Magazine For Melodic Rock Music

'Journey Out Of Here' feels like a Grunge-tinged version of U2, and the Bluesy atheism 'A God Is No Friend' and fuzzed-up Retro Rock of 'Mind Of A Mute' feature superb vocal performances from Buchanan. The penultimate track arrives in fine style in the shape of 'Morals', Buchanan wearing his Queen influences on his sleeve throughout, particularly during the layered harmony vocal outro.

It's been a long time in the making, but this debut shows a vocalist at the top of his game, and while his former band HB struggle with continuity, Buchanan seems comfortable in his own skin, delivering top quality music that should see his popularity rise very quickly.
