Four albums in and it is high time the cat was let out of the bag – Mean Streak have arrived!

Providing Metal-edged, driving Melodic Hard Rock from the town of Skövde in central Sweden, Mean Streak was put together about a decade or so ago by bassist Peter Andersson. To date, they've released three moderately successful albums of foot-stomping, riff-driven Melodic Hard Rock, all of which have their own individual style and character – 2013's 'Trial By Fire' comes especially recommended if you're an Edguy fan! Now however, with fourth effort 'Blind Faith', it seems that they're ready to push beyond their established bridgehead into more mainstream territory.

For starters, involving a legend like Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and a million others) in the production and mixing is a move clearly designed to up their profile somewhat... therefore the million dollar question is do they have the songs to match the potential? In short, if you've been watching them since debut 'Metal Slave' first hit the shelves in 2009, you'll know they've always had potential, but this time that really comes home to roost!

Imagine Iron Maiden, Accept, Gotthard and Bonfire kicking out the jams after eighteen months on the road together and that will give you a feel for where MS are coming from – wave after wave of monster riffs, grizzled yet warm vocals (Andy LaGuerin proves to be a great focal point for the band once again) and an insistent, infectious melodic edge that just keeps getting bigger and bigger! The influences are still there for all to see, but finally they seem to have settled on a sound that is actually one they can lay claim to as their own.

As for the songs, the thumping 'Tear Down The Walls' is my current favourite (it even has touches of Grim Reaper in the riff department), all wall to wall rifferama, anthemic choruses and the promise of a great opener on stage. The moody 'Caught In The Crossfire' has a sassy swagger to it, 'Tears Of The Blind' pushes nicely into Accept territory, frenetic opener 'Blood Red Sky' is Rainbow meets Stratovarius and 'Retaliation Call' is amped up Gotthard at their most exhilarating.

Four albums in and it is high time the cat was let out of the bag – Mean Streak have arrived!
