Title

They seem to have gone for style over substance on this one.

'Shameless' is the third album from Danish Rockers Siamese, and the first since they dropped the Fighting Fish from their name after the 2011 debut 'We Are Sound' and 2012's 'Breathe:See:Move', and if they don't use the 'We Are Siamese' song from 'The Lady And The Tramp' as an intro to their live shows, then that is an opportunity missed – just saying. These group are based in Copenhagen and comprise of Mirza Radonjica (vocals), Morten Bo Jakobsen (bass), Andreas Krüger (guitar), Joakim Stilling (drums) and Christian Hjort Lauritzen (violin).

What does their third album have to offer us? From a band that has titles such as 'Crap Is The New Black' and 'Party Like Charlie Sheen' on previous albums, it's got to be worth a listen. Lead off track 'Ablaze' jumps right in, it's a full production, clean and modern sounding Rock – think Linkin Park and 30 Seconds To Mars. It's Pop Rock with their trademark violin tucked into the mix. The vocals sound auto-tuned which I find bizarre as Radonjica can certainly sing; whether it's a production thing or a sign of the times, I don't think it's needed either way.

This is a bone of contention over the rest of the album for me, it's not that the songs are bad, they're catchy enough and the musicianship is excellent throughout, they just seem too clean and over produced, and the studio vocal trickery starts to grate a bit. However, I do like the way on certain tracks the violin is used instead of a guitar solo.
For an album that started off well, the only track that stands out for me is first single 'Make It Out', unfortunately not in a good way. It starts off as the kind of song that Justin's Timberlake or Bieber might put out, before the guitars kick in and then it's all Boy Band Metal; maybe it should be the Danish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest...

To these ears, for a group that garnered awards and critical praise for their first two albums under the SFF name, they seem to have gone for style over substance on this one. Maybe it's because they've lost some of that fighting spirit by shortening their name, or maybe a bit more spit 'n' sawdust and some dirt under the nails would've possibly made this stand out more by taking the shine off it.
